About us
Askalon Industries is a Lausanne-based deep-tech company. We build passive acoustic systems that detect and identify drones in real time using embedded AI. Our sensors protect critical sites such as prisons, airports, industrial infrastructure and other sensitive locations. They emit nothing and need no cloud connection. They also catch autonomous and non-metallic drones that RF and radar miss.
Your missions
- Acoustic signal processing: design and improve our multi-microphone processing chain: filtering, denoising, spectral analysis, harmonic detection, localization and beamforming.
- Embedded AI: train, evaluate and optimize drone detection and classification models (spectrogram-based CNNs, lightweight audio models), then quantize them and deploy them on embedded targets.
- Data: build and grow our datasets: field recordings, labeling, augmentation, and noisy environments such as city centers, highways and airports.
- Field work: take part in outdoor measurement campaigns and deployments, and analyze real-world performance (range, false positives, latency).
- Industrialization: contribute to OTA updates, test and validation tooling, and performance monitoring across the sensor network.
Profile
- Engineering or Master’s student in signal processing, acoustics, machine learning or embedded systems (ideally for your final-year internship).
- Solid signal processing foundations: FFT, filtering, STFT; array processing is a plus.
- Hands-on deep learning experience in Python (PyTorch or TensorFlow, NumPy/SciPy, librosa).
- Nice to have: C/C++, embedded deployment (ONNX, TFLite, TensorRT, ARM, Jetson…), and experience with real-world audio data.
- Experimental rigor: you measure before you claim.
- You like hands-on and field work, and you’re comfortable in “mission critical” security environments.
Why join us?
- Direct impact: your algorithms run on sensors that protect real sites.
- A small team of engineers and security professionals, with real autonomy and responsibility from day one.
- A permanent position after the internship.
